Shopify Dropshipping is method of dropshipping using Shopify’s e-commerce store builder! No dropshipping is not dead!
What is dropshipping?
Dropshipping is where you sell a product you find from a wholesaler on AliExpress or AliBaba (these are the main websites dropshippers use). This product that you are thinking of selling will be rather cheap on AliExpress, but when you sell it on your store the price will be marked up by a LOT. When someone buys from your Shopify store, you will receive a notification giving you the person’s information and then you take that information and buy the product off AliExpress or AliBaba and ship it to their house!
That’s the quick run down but let me give you an example!
A few weeks ago I decided to actually try Shopify Dropshipping, but I decided not to after some time. The product I was selling was a blackhead vaccum remover.
This was the screen from AliExpress and as you can see this product was not too expensive. After I picked my product I moved onto making my Shopify store. I picked a store name and called my product “Blackle”. I spent some time watching YouTube tutorials on how to make a good store and all that and after spending a day I was almost finished!
So this was my store after about 5 hours of work and yes it is pretty basic. You can take a look at the store, the process actually wasn’t that hard but there were a lot of small features that you had to learn so it started getting complicated. Anyways, as you can see, You can see that I would make about a $15 profit from each of these items being sold which doesn’t sound too bad!
Pros:
- you can really make a lot of side money if you invest your time
- you can turn this into a new business
- lots of tutorials online
Cons:
- you need to spent a lot of time to make a good store
- lots of different fees (monthly fees, app fees, marketing fees)
- you can potentially lose a lot of money if the product isn’t profitable
- you need around $200–$300 to start
- dropshipping is becoming quite saturated
In my opinion, this is one of the best side hustles you could probably do. You have to grind and spend extra time making the perfect store but if you get a good product and you start becoming profitable from it, you will thank yourself for the grind. Be wary of potential courses and gurus that are scams. If you are interested in starting your own site, visit YouTube and many dropshipping videos will appear and spend your time learning about it.
